… Lifting our hands to eulogize our God.

My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Marvin Willians, writes about the concept of a “eulogy,” … We often use the word eulogy to refer to the words spoken at a funeral. But it can also refer to other situations where we give high praise to someone. In the opening lines of Ephesians, the apostle Paul eulogized the living God. When he said, “Blessed be the God and Father,” he used a word for “blessed” that means [in the Greek] “eulogy.”

Then, also citing the highlight scripture for the day, Williams went on to show how the Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, exhorted them to lift up a eulogy of praise to our God, often and with intensity of feeling, to demonstrating our true love and desire to reflect back the love God, the Father, had shown us in sending His Son to save us.

So, as you join me to read this, I pray we all can lift our hands, as Clay Crosse sings [linked above] and eulogize our God with genuine praise from our hearts.

My Prayer Today: Oh Lord, … may our heart join today to praise Your holy Name! Amen
