October 27, 2017 … He IS My Provider!

Berry Patch Devotions in 2017 - Day 300

Devotional Song: … GO TO THIS LINK …  Please take the time to take in a YouTube video and lyrics from a worship group singing … Jehovah Jireh, My Provider … joyfully singing of how God is so faithful to provide for our needs.

=============
Highlight Verse[s]: Deuteronomy 24:19 [NLT] … 19 “When you reap your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. …”
… God’s command, thru Moses, for His people to be His hands of provision for those who have needs they can’t provide.
==============
Highlight Passage [context]: Deuteronomy 24:19-22 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK
… And God, our Provider, expects His believers to do all we can to be His hands of provision.

Reference Passage [NLT] : … Proverbs 12:11 [NLT] … 11 A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies has no sense.
… God does provide; but He expects those who can to work for their food rather than chasing fantasies.

Reference Passage [NLT] : … Ephesians 3:20 [NLT] … 20 Now all glory to God, Who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
 … What God has waiting for us Christians in glory are gifts WAY BEYOND what we can imagine.

Reference Passage [NLT] : … Philippians 4:19 [NLT] … 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
 … Our God is our Provider! And when we follow Him, He will provide more than we can ever imagine.

Reference Passage [NLT] : … 1st Thessalonians 3:10 [NLT] …
10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.
… Yes, God is our provider, but He expects those who can to plan and work for their provision

My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Julie Ackerman Link, used a word picture from nature to illustrate how God uses various means to provide for our needs. The ODB author wrote: Outside my office window, the squirrels are in a race against winter to bury their acorns in a safe, accessible place. Their commotion amuses me. An entire herd of deer can go through our back yard and not make a sound, but one squirrel sounds like an invasion.
The two creatures are different in another way as well. Deer do not prepare for winter. When the snow comes they eat whatever they can find along the way (including ornamental shrubs in our yard). But squirrels would starve if they followed that example. They would be unable to find suitable food.

A carry over from my journalling yesterday (SEE THIS LINK), we know that God is willing (and certainly able) to provide our needs; … and yes, even way more than we need! And when He does, He expects those of us who CAN provide for ourselves to leave or give some for those who cannot provide (see the highlight passage).

And so, quite often we can be like a generous squirrel [see photo] and leave some nuts for the deer. And in that way, we WHO CAN will become God’s hands of provision for those WHO CAN’T store away for the winter.

My questions from this wisdom today are: #1… do I really trust God - in faith - to be my Provider (see song link)… and #2 … do I do enough to provide for those under my charge?

And we all should ask/answer these for ourselves, shouldn’t we?

My Prayer Today: Abba Father, … King Jesus, … Precious Spirit … You most certainly are my Jehovah Jireh, providing all I need from Your riches in glory. And so, dear Lord, help me to be Your hands for others who need Your provision. … Amen
