November 11, 2019 … Our Will = God’s Will?

Berry Patch Devotions in 2019 - Day 315

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in a YouTube video of a congregation singing song with lyrics from the song … I Surrender All … poignantly in worship singing of how we as disciples of Christ must follow the Lord and surrender our all to His will.

Which road will we take today?

=============
Highlight Verse[s]: Matthew 6:10 [NKJV] ... 10  Your kingdom come. Your will be done … on earth as it is in heaven.
… We, as Christians, are to surrender our will to God’s.
==============
Highlight Passage [context]: Matthew 6:5-15 [NKJV] ... USE THIS LINK ...
… Jesus shows His disciples how to pray ,,, for God’s will to prevail in their lives, … not their own.
==============

Reference Passage : … Psalm 139:23-24 [ NKJV] … USE THIS LINK ...
… We need to pray - EVERYDAY - that we surrender hour human will to the will of the Father, … just as Jesus did.

Reference Passage : … Proverbs 3:5-6 [ NKJV] … USE THIS LINK ...
… God demands that we COMPLETELY trust Him so that He can show us His way.

Reference Passage : … Luke 9:23 NKJV] … 23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross [a]daily, and follow Me. … “
… Jesus demands that anyone following Him must deny his own will and surrender to follow our Lord.

Reference Passage : … Philippians 4:19 NKJV] … 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
… And if this is true - AND IT IS! - shouldn’t we ALWAYS simply surrender our desires to Gods’ will to supply us what we need.

My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Anne Cetas, uses a picture of a type of Japanese restaurant to illustrate how we need to surrender our will to God’s. … The ODB author wrote: Nate and Sherilyn enjoyed their stop at an omakase restaurant while visiting New York City. Omakase is a Japanese word that translates, “I will leave it up to you,” which means customers at such restaurants let the chef choose their meal. Even though it was their first time to try this type of cuisine and it sounded risky, they loved the food the chef chose and prepared for them.
That idea could carry over to our attitude toward God with our prayer requests: “I will leave it up to You.”

Interesting concept for a restaurant, isn’t it? No menu; … just giving up our will to that of a chef whom we believe knows what’s best for our wants/needs. And it is a good gastronomical picture of the way God desires that we come to Him, isn’t it?

And that issue was certainly at the heart of how Jesus taught His followers to pray to God, the Father, showing them (see highlight passage) how they should surrender their will (COMPLETELY) to God’s will while here on earth. And that attitude was also at the heart of our becoming disciples of Christ, as we read Jesus commanding those who followed Him in Luke 9:23.

So, the question is today, … do we really desire to be Christ’s disciples; and if so, which road will we choose (see photo), … ours or His?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, ... for showing us the way to Your heart.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me, to surrender our desires to God’s will for our lives … not just today, but tomorrow too. … Amen
