November 3, 2019 … Human Cacophony

Berry Patch Devotions in 2019 - Day 307

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in a YouTube video of the visual and sound sensation of the modern statue, entitled “Babel” by Cildo Meireles, described in the Our Daily Bread entry today … giving readers a sense of how the modern statue characterizes the Biblical Tower of Babel, where God divided sinful mankind against himself by changing tribal groups by language separation. … and then on to a modern rendition of the Christian classic song, singing ”Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound” - sung by Judy Collins.

Modern Statue of "Babel" by Cildo Meireles

=============
Highlight Verse[s]: Acts 2:4, … 6 [NKJV] ... 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. …
6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
… When the Spirit of Christ reigns in the hearts of mankind, … even language barriers cannot hinder the unity of the Body of Christ.
==============
Highlight Passage [context]: Acts 2:1-12 [NKJV] ... USE THIS LINK ...
… God shows how mankind can come together when the Holy Spirit breaks thru the language barriers of our cultural differences with the Spirit of Christ breaks down our sin/selfish barriers.
==============

Reference Passage : … Genesis 11:1-9 [NKJV] ... USE THIS LINK ...
… A grieved God separates mankind by speech and language against ourselves; and we now still see the results of this cacophony of selfishness and sin.

Reference Passage : … Isaiah 26:3 [NKJV] … 3  You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
 … The sound of togetherness and peace is found in those whose soul focus is seeking the Lord’s will and His ways … TOGETHER !!

Reference Passage : … John 16:33 [NKJV] … 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
 … Jesus declares the reality of peace and togetherness which is found when His body seeks only His will and His ways thru His word, … not by trying to shout at each other with our own personal agendas.

My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Sheridan Voysey, uses a statue of modern art, with radios built into a modern tower of Babel, illustrating how mankind has become separated by sinful and selfish communication. … The ODB author wrote: While I was visiting London’s Tate Modern gallery, one piece of art caught my attention. Created by Brazilian artist Cildo Meireles, it was a giant tower made of hundreds of old radios. [see YouTube video and photo above] Each radio was turned on and tuned to a different station, creating a cacophony of confusing, indecipherable speech. Meireles called the sculpture Babel. The title is appropriate. At the original tower of Babel, God thwarted humanity’s attempt to seize heaven by confusing mankind’s languages (Genesis 11:1–9).

I really don’t think I need to add anything here, do I? If any reader has taken in the ODB paragraph in bold above as well as the YouTube and photo depiction of the modern art statue of “Babel,” along with the scriptures above, the conclusion should be startlingly obvious; … that mankind is doomed to our cultural and worldly selfishness … into a CACOPHONY (what a strong word) of sinful personal/political sinfulness unless; … that is, … unless we respond in unity as born-again believers, following King Jesus, and singing the truth of God’s “AMAZING GRACE” … TOGETHER!!

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, ... for giving us Your Spirit to blend our hearts in unity and accord in Christ.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me, to show that God’s amazing grace breaks thru the cacophony (love that word!) of selfish noisiness in this word to create the harmony that only Christ can bring to mankind. … Amen
