My Devotional Journal: Today’s Our Daily Bread Author, Karen Huang … AT THIS LINK … told of a young woman, … Julia, … who had a troubled childhood which led her to have abnormal fears of her husband leaving her. Because of this,. Julia held on to texts from her husband which promised his faithfulness. And also counseling helped Julia to handle her fears that her husband would not return to her from work each night.
And Julia’s situation apparently caused the ODB author to think of King Jeroboam’s fears of Israel’s enemies, with the King ignoring God’s covenant promises to protect God’s people. And the King’s fears led him to set up and support pagan idols to protect God’s people (see Highlight passages); and God, of course, would not protect such faithless practices.
How often do we let faithless fears rule our choices and decisions, when all we need is to rely on our faith in God to protect and guide us in life? Personally, trying to overcome my own unfounded fears, I rely on God’s word to be my protector and guide in life; .. just like many of us rely on our cellphone GPS devices when we need to find our way in life. What about you? Do you, as I do, rely on God’s word to be your faithful “GPS” in life. I sure do; and I pray you do as well? He, our Lord, … thru His word, … is our faithful guide and protector today and tomorrow.
My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You, … for giving us Your word as Your perfect “GPS” today and tomorrow.
Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I praise You, … again Lord. …for guiding us thru life’s trials with Your word as our GPS . … Amen
