My Devotional JournalToday’s Our Daily Bread Author,  Adam R Holz AT THIS LINK          tells about the “DTE” (Distance Til Empty) indicator on all cars which provides gas consumption on the vehicle.  The device is installed to allow the car owner or driver to avoid running our of gas while driving and being stranded on the road.  And the ODB author uses that device to illustrate God’s “DTE,” in Exodus 20, where The Lord commands His people to keep the seventh day (i.e.,The Sabbath) of each week as a time to rest and refill the soul for the road of work ahead in life.

It’s pretty easy to ignore God’s “DTE,” isn’t it?  In our human nature, we too often think we have more in the tank than God knows we do.   And we forget that God wants us to devote a time to rest and restore what He gives us to do the work we’re called to do for His glory.  Personally I relish using the Sabbath for my “R&R.”  How about you?

My Thanksgiving: … Oh, King Jesus, thank You, … for giving me Your Sabbath time to restore my soul.

My Prayer TodayOh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I praise You, … again Lord. …to allow a special time to stop and refill our tanks for the road ahead. .  … Amen
