December 13, 2022 … Death Defeated …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 347

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in song and lyrics Jeremy and Adrienne Camp singing … Death Has No Power poignantly singing of how death has no power in the life of a Cristian who has surrendered to the Lordship of King Jesus in our lives.

==============

Highlight Passage: … 1Corinthians 15:56-57 [NLT] …

56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

… Death is defeated in the truth shared by the Apostle Paul to Corinthian Christians, and us, that death is defeated by our faith in the finished work of our Savior, King Jesus, on the cross.

Highlight Passage (Context): … 1Corinthians 15:50-58 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… Paul declares the reality that our surrender in faith to Christ’s Lordship allows us to defeat death with eternal life.

===============                                                                     .

Reference Passage: … John 3:16 [NLT] …

16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life … “

  Jesus reveals the truth of His power over death to Nicodemus - and to us - for anyone who believes in Jesus as King and Messiah.

Reference Passage: … John 11:25-26 [NLT] …

25 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. … ”

  Jesus declares to Martha at Lazarus’ death,…  and for our benefit now, …  that everyone who believes in Him as Messiah will never die.

Reference Passage: … John 14:3 [NLT] …

When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. “

  Jesus promises His disciples in the upper room that He will bring them to be with Him in heaven forever.

Reference Passage: … Revelation 21:4 [NLT] …

He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”.

  God’s promise, thru His revelation to John of God’s defeat of sin and death.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Kenneth Peterson … AT THIS LINK   ells of a short story by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, who wrote of a Roman soldier who discovered that life had no meaning without death; … but finally in the story the young soldier discovers a spring of clear water that, when he drank from it, he didn’t need death to give meaning to life because he had life restored by partaking of the spring of life-giving water.

And I don’t think that any of my readers miss the parallels from that short story to the reality of what we know as truth from God’s word.  So, if my readers believe - as I do - in the truth taught in the Scriptures above and sung in the linked song, … we, who believe in King Jesus as our Messiah and Lord, and knowing the truth that believing on HIs finished work on the Cross will bring everlasting life, can KNOW that our Lord has defeated death and promises eternal life, … living with Him forever, and living with the gratitude of that reality now and forever.

Do I sense you joining me with a glorious HALLELUJAH?!!

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for what You did to give me and all born-again Christians the hope of eternal life thru our faith in You as LORD and Savior.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to live with the faith that You, King Jesus, have defeated death and provided us with the reality to be with You, Lord, … forever!        Amen
