December 16, 2022 … Leaving A Legacy …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 350

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Nichole Nordeman singing  Legacy … poignantly singing of the kind of legacy that we Christians should leave which shows off our relationship with Christ being Spirit-led and different from that of a worldly legacy.

==============

Highlight Passage: … 2Timothy 1:5 [NLT] …

I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.

… Paul affirms the faith which had been instilled in Timothy by his mother and grandmother.

Reference Passage: … Deuteronomy 6:5-7 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

God, thru Moses, commands His people to pass along a Godly legacy to the children of HIs chosen people.

Reference Passage: … Psalms 78:4 [NLT] …

We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders.

God shows, in song thru Asaph, how those who follow the Lord must tell of His mighty deeds to the next generations.

Reference Passage: … Luke 9:23 [NLT] …

23 Then He said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

Jesus strongly commands His followers to deny our own and follow Him EVERYDAY of our lives as Christians.

Reference Passage: … 1Corinthians 11:1 [NLT] …

you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.

The Apostle Paul expresses confidence that others could follow his legacy of imitating Christ.

Reference Passage: … 2Timothy 4:6-8 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

Paul testifies to Timothy (and for us) that he had done everything in his life to leave a legacy of faith for others to follow.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Lisa M Samra … AT THIS LINK   tells of social studies done in 2019 which revealed that a large proportion of declared Christians in the USA were heavily influenced in their faith by their mothers or grandmothers.

And the ODB author shows that this was the case for young Timothy, whom the Apostle Paul had mentored to help the young preacher grow in faith.  Timothy had come to faith by the loving/gentle legacy of faith of Timothy’s mother and grandmother.

Is there anyone in your life who left a legacy of faith in Christ for you?  And are we leaving a legacy of faith in the lives of anyone we know, …  helping them, as Paul did for Timothy, to grow closer into a more fruitful relationship with Christ.

Please take in the linked song and the Scriptures above; and I pray all of us are doing all we can to leave a strong and lasting legacy of faith for others.

My THANKFULNESS:: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for calling me to be a legacy of faith for others in my life.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to do all we can, Lord, to follow You and lead others to You or closer to You.      Amen
