My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Jennifer Benson Schuldt, took her readers (me) back to the book of Ecclesiastes, which is a very pertinent study of a King’s repentant attitude after having lived his life, going against much of what he had journaled in the book of Proverbs, which was written much earlier in his life.
Solomon had lived out his life in the opulence of kingly, worldly living; and he discovered that it all was vanity and worthless when it comes to what God values from His children [see Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14]. I’m not going to write much here. It would vanity to try to expound on what God brings to us through the truths, either copied or linked above. So, I merely ask any reader here to take in the attached photo, the linked songs above, and all of God’s declarations about His values; and then do your own self inventory, … as I am now.
I, personally, am heartened that I’ve come a long way from the time God’s grace saved me when I surrendered to the Lordship of Christ; but when I take in God’s exhortations above, I’ve still got some more surrendering to bring me to the place of Romans 12: 1-2 Yet, it TRULY is my belief that Jesus is my ALL IN ALL; and it is HIS VALUES which I pursue.
My Prayer for Today … Lord, … I do surrender all. … Amen
