My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Joe Stowell, uses an interesting story illustration to show how we need to be flying the flag of Christ in our lives for all to see Him in residence. The story goes like this … “ Queen Elizabeth II has reigned over the British Empire for more than 60 years. Her monarchy has been characterized by grace and class. She has diligently given her life to serve her people well, and as a result she is deeply loved and highly revered. So, you can understand the importance of the flag flying above Buckingham Palace. When the flag is flying, it means that she is in residence in the heart of London. The flag is a public statement that the queen is present with her people. "

In other words, today’s attached photo asks the operant question - "Are we flying the flag of the Christ in us as we live to shine His light into a very dark world and so that those who see us will see the radiance of Christ shining through us."

I hope you take a few minutes and take in the YouTube video to which I’ve linked you above. It’s my favorite Christian group singing one of my favorites of their songs, … which brings out the image to which all Christians should aspire … that of having the mind of Christ and living as He lived so that all - especially our kids - can see Christ shining forth from the way we live.

So, inspired and convicted by today’s OBD entry, I ask … Are we going to fly the flag of Christ in all we think, say, and do today?

My Prayer for Today … Lord, … Shine, Jesus, shine forth in my life today! Amen
