Reference Passage #3 … Proverbs 3: 5-6 [NKJV] - A passage I pray you have memorized and internalized …
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Reference Passage #4… Romans 8: 28 … Truth; but do we really believe it?
28 And we know that ALL THINGS work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Mart De Haan, took his readers (me) to the times and prophesies of Jeremiah when the remnant of believers in Jerusalem, threatened by Babylon, yielded to God’s prophesies and protection in a time of peril; and God promised them mercy for their repentance and surrender.

And the word picture that God’s word often used for the Lord’s protective covering, especially from the psalmists, was the wings of a mother bird covering her new born chicks (see the attached photo and the reference passages from the Psalms linked above).

There are times in our lives when we come into very challenging times, as God’s people did in the times of Jeremiah. But as the Apostle Paul preached to the church in Romans 8: 28, ALL THINGS do, in truth, work together FOR GOOD to those who love the Lord and are willing to follow His ways [see my oft repeated verse in Luke 9: 23]. The question always is whether we really believe that truth, as well as the pronouncements of Moses in Deuteronomy 31: 6, 8 [linked above].

Personally, there have been times in my life when I looked for God’s protection in all the wrong places, including trying to handle life on my own; but when I finally came to rest in the truth of the passages above, I came to feel as do those baby birds covered by the wings of the mama bird in the attached photo.

My Prayer for Today … Cover us, Lord; … we need your protective wings. … Amen
