My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Bill Crowder, remind his readers - mostly Christians like me - that we live in a “Disposable Culture,” which is the title of his ODB entry today. And I would say that we’d all likely say a resounding “AMEN” to his contention. Right now if we checked our trash containers, even if we’re recycling stuff, we’d find all manner of throw away stuff, … plastic bags, cardboard boxes, empty soda cans, and the like. Yes, ours is a world of disposables.
BUT - and this one is an enormous “but” - we serve an absolutely unchangeable, FOREVER, God. And that is what the author[s] of Psalms 106 and 136 was/were trying to declare … that God’s love and mercy endure forever. And by going to the reference passage of 2nd Chronicles 6, 3, 6, these truths from these Psalms were declared when God’s Temple was dedicated unto a forever God. And it’s the message of the great Prophet, Jeremiah, in his book of Lamentations (see Lam. 3: 22-23 copied above).
Hence, what are our conclusions from today’s mediation? Though we live in a disposable world, we live for an ABSOLUTELY INDISPOSABLE, everlasting God; and truly, we can trust in our God because His love and mercies endure forever. … Revel in that today!!!
My Prayer for Today … Lord, … even today Your love abounds and Your mercies are new for me. Amen
