September 5, 2015:  Real Locks of Love

Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2015 - Day 247

Devotional Song:  … GO TO THIS LINK …   Please take the time to once again take in a video of images from Andy Chrisman singing Adore You relating the adoration we have for our Savior, who died that we might live in His love.

Highlight Passage:   Ephesians 5: 1-2 [NKJV]  …
1 … Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
 … If we’re imitators of our Lord, we will walk in the love which He lived and died for us.
============
Highlight Context – Ephesians 4: 29 - 5: 2 [NKJV] … USE THIS LINK  …
…  Paul exhorted Christians to walk together in the love which Christ has shown to us.
============

Reference Passage #1 - Luke 9: 23 [NKJV] …
23 If any one would come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
… Jesus’ charge to follow Him as HIS disciples to deny ourselves and live/love others.

Reference Passage #2 - John 3: 16 [NKJV] …
 [Certainly I would hope that any/all reading here know this one.]
… Christ’s word on God’s, the Father’s, love in giving His Son as THE SIGN of His love for us.

Reference Passage #3 - John 14: 21 [NKJV] …
21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
… Are we showing Christ’s love to others. Well, we should!!

Reference Passage #4 - Romans 12: 1 [NKJV] …
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
… This is the kind of love we should be sharing with others.

My Journal for Today:  Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Anne Cetas, wrote about a social phenomena growing around the world. It’s called “love locks” and it can be seen in the attached photo, where people, many times couples, will come to a place where others will place padlocks, signifying their love for one another. Some places have designated these “love lock” sites as vandalism because of the danger posed by the weight of the locks on bridges and other sites such as living trees. But in some places they are supported and viewed as growing works of live art.

 It shows you how the human perspective can be so variant, depending on just that - human perception and perspective. But from God’s truth [see the highlight passage], there is a perspective on sharing love which can only be seen from God’s perspective and that is the love He had for mankind in sending His only Son to live, die, and be resurrected [see John 3: 16 and the other scriptures above] to have all who’ve received His love to share it with others.

 I don’t think I need to write any more here to emphasize what we need to do today and all days, do I? And it’s certainly more that putting a padlock in a central location to show that we love someone. No, it needs to be what Paul wrote about in Romans 12: 1 and that is become living sacrifices of love for other anther, emulating the sacrifice of love which Christ showed of us.

 So let’s go out and love others that way today.

My Prayer Today:  Oh, my Lord, … help me to show You love to/for someone who needs Your love.  … Amen
