September 7, 2015:  Rippling Hope …

Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2015 - Day 249

Devotional Song:  … GO TO THIS LINK …  Please take the time to once again take in a video of a classic 19th century hymn, with the lyrics written by Edward Mote, but the song by Matt Redman, entitled, My Hope, which declares the hope on which all Christians stand … on THE solid rock. … Yes, our hope lies in Christ and His resurrection…

Highlight Passage:   1st Peter 1: 3-5 [NKJV]  …
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
… Our hope, being in Christ, will always prevail … even in death.

Reference Passage #1 - Psalm 46 [NKJV] … USE THIS LINK ...
… God is our hope and refuge in times of trouble

Reference Passage #2 - Luke 9: 23 [NKJV] …
23 If any one would come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
… And following Christ is all we need to know - and do!

My Journal for Today:  Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Bill Crowder, referred to a famous speech made by Robert Kennedy in 1966 in Cape Town, South Africa, giving hope to those who were struggling for racial equality and the dissolution of apartheid. Kennedy said, “Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”

To Kennedy, the ripples of hope for freedom for all in South Africa in those days of apartheid would come from those who would stand up and be heard for freedom; but the Apostle Peter, writing to Christians dying daily for their faith in Christ, God inspired him to write what we read above in 1st Peter 1: 3-9, where the truth for all Christians is found when we face the tribulations of life - even those which can lead to death.

Please take the time to take in God’s truth, through Peter, King David, and Jesus above, as well as the song linked above, sung by Matt Redman; and then, no matter what we’re going through in life, we can know that we stand on the solid ROCK of Jesus and His death and resurrection that we might live forever with Him in glory.

That’s all I need for ripples of hope into my future. How about you?

My Prayer Today:  Oh, my Lord, … my anchor of faith holds in the promise of Your resurrection.  … Amen
