Reference Passage #1 - Isaiah 9: 6 [NKJV] …
6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Reference Passage #2 - Luke 2: 7 [NKJV]
7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

My Journal for Today: Today’s Our Daily Bread devotional entry, authored by Bill Crowder, relates some Christmas reflections from Christmas traditions in his own home, where the family would gather around the tree with all the gifts; and author Crowder would read the Christmas story from Luke, Chapter 2, reflecting on God’s greatest gift, … Who, of course, was Jesus, God’s own Son, … Who came in the form of a babe, wrapped in the most common of Christmas wrappings, … those swaddling cloths.

 Hopefully, as we all sit around our Christmas trees, decorated with the lights and with all the gifts, wrapped in shining bright wrappings or in pretty boxes, as we give gifts to one another, we can pause for a moment to remember and recognize God’s greatest gift of all, who from our standpoint is the “reason for the season” - JESUS!

 But then dear one, also stop and think of who was “the reason for the season” from Jesus’ point of view; and that of course was - and is - you and me. Yes, we are Jesus’ reason for coming to earth. He came to save US, … you and me. And so, from the viewpoint of God’s greatest gift, WE are His reason for the season. So, join me to joyously, say what Paul said to the Church in 2nd Cor. 9: 15, copied above, … "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!"

My Prayer for Today … Lord, … Help us to keep our focus on YOU during this special season with so many of Your gifts surrounding us. Amen
