My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Arthur Jackson, used a personal story of an act of protective kindness which reminded the author of how our Savior is our Good Shepherd, leading and protecting His sheep. The ODB author writes … The weather outside was threatening, and the alert on my cell phone warned about the possibility of flash floods. An unusual number of cars were parked in my neighborhood as parents and others gathered to pick up children at the school bus drop-off point. By the time the bus arrived, it had started to rain. That’s when I observed a woman exit her car and retrieve an umbrella from the trunk. She walked towards a little girl and made sure the child was shielded from the rain until they returned to the vehicle. What a beautiful “real time” picture of parental, protective care that reminded me of the care of our heavenly Father.
I’m sure the events which were observed by our ODB author reminded him of all the accounts of Jesus becoming and being our “Good Shepherd,” as is depicted in the Scriptures above as well as Marty Goetz’s lovely version of Psalm 23. And I would pray that all who read here have experienced the redemptive and restoring lead of our Savior in our lives, … He being our Good Shepherd.
Yes, as it says in Psalms 23, as well as the Prophet’s account in Isaiah 40 and 53 above, our Messiah, King Jesus, is always there to lead His sheep into a restoring relationship with Himself … IF … we are but willing to follow Him.
I pray we are!!

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, … King Jesus, … I follow You as my Good Shepherd every moment of every day of my life, and You lead me back to Yourself when I go astray. … Amen
