My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Dave Branon, used a personal story to illustrate the kind of hospitality and humble service Christians should offer to each other and to others. The ODB author writes … During a recent vacation, my wife and I visited a famous athletic complex. The gates were wide open, and it appeared that we were welcome to visit. We enjoyed touring the grounds and admiring the well-manicured sports fields. As we were about to leave, someone stopped us and coldly told us we were not supposed to be there. Suddenly, we were reminded that we were outsiders—and it felt uncomfortable.
On that vacation we also visited a church [see photo]. Again, the doors were open, so we walked in. What a difference! Many people greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. We walked out of that church service knowing we were welcomed and accepted.
Taking in the linked song by Tim McGraw and the Scriptures brought out in today’s ODB entry, God’s way of treating others in the context of our Christian relationships is obvious, isn’t it?
So, … the question is DO WE really treat others with the kind of “heavenly hospitality” which our Lord commands us to offer to others, … especially those in the family of faith. I will leave it to you to deal with your own convictions; but I, for one, could do more to reach out in the Spirit of God’s exhortations above to reach out and show the love and grace of God to others without profiling and discriminating.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, … King Jesus, … I pray, Lord, all of us, who call ourselves “Christian,” will reach out to show Your love/grace to others today and all days. … Amen
