Giving from the "left-overs"

Highlight Passage:   Leviticus 23:22 [ESV] ... 

22 “And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, nor shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the Lord your God.”  

…  When the people were harvesting from God’s providence, they were to leave the edges of the fields for the poor to glean what they could use for feeding the needy.

…  God commands His people (that’s us!) to open our hands wide to help the needy.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, John Blasé, AT THIS LINK relates the delightful story of his grandfather leaving left over coins on his bedside table (see photo) for his grandkids to find, … illustrating the highlight passage in the Old Testament where God instructed those during harvest of the grain to leave the edges of the harvest for the poor/needy to glean for their needs.   

And in this Advent Season, when we think of the Magi bringing gifts to the King of the world, what can we give from our time, talents, and treasures, … maybe just some “left-over” coins, … for the needy to be able to be helped in this season of plenty.   

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for giving us our needs, with left-overs to help others. 

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray that all reading here will join me today, giving from God’s providence to help others in need.   … Amen
