My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Poh Fang Chia, AT THIS LINK  … tells of being deep in a lush forest in China and seeing some glorious sights of God’s creation when their local traveling companions decided to have a picnic. However, the group had not planned ahead and brought provisions for a picnic. But, … the local Chinese group went into the wooded forest area and brought back several types of fruits and vegetables, … plenty enough to provide for the picnic. 

The incident reminded the ODB author that our God is the Provider of all we need, as is supported by the truth of the Scriptures above. As our God would supply the needs of Adam and Eve (see the highlight passage), He is our Jehovah Jireh, Who will supply all of our needs as well.  Unfortunately, we often get our “needs” confused with our (selfish) “wants.”  

But, as is promised in the linked song; and again by Jesus and the Apostle Paul in the References Scriptures above, we need not ever worry; because our God truly is our “Jireh,” and He will supply the needs of anyone and everyone who trusts our God to give born-again believers what we need.

Oh, that’s so, SO me!  … I often will take any road to skirt having to confront someone I find unloveable, even tho I know what my Savior preached to His followers - and to disciples like those of us who call ourselves “Christians,” to love EVERYONE, … yes even our enemies.  And if my readers have taken in the charge of Jesus  (in the Acts 1 and Luke 6 passages), we should, not only be willing to confront unlovable people; but, we, … as disciples of Christ, … should do all we can to love others like Jesus loves us.  And I don’t know about you, my fellow Christian; but we. at times, must be very unloveable followers to our Lord, … Who loved us enough to die for us on a cross, … and Who loves us enough today to always be with us as we try to be His witnesses.   

So, how about today … we all go about dealing with the unloveable, … yes, even our enemies, … like Jesus was - AND IS - willing to deal with us.   

My THANKFULNESS:... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for loving a very unloveable me.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Sheridan Voysey, AT THIS LINK  … tells a story of a farmer who found garbage which someone had deposited on his farm; and finding an envelope with an address on it in the garbage, he took it upon himself to redeposit the garbage on the garden of the offender’s home, … feeling good that he had gotten revenge.    

Getting back at someone who has wronged or offended us feels good, doesn’t it? We can feel like it’s justice to revenge a wrong, can’t we?  But if you’ve taken in the scriptures above, and if we “FEEL” that God’s word is absolute truth, as I do, what does God say about going with our feelings and seeking revenge?  

God says that we should seek to show love to the person who wronged us, doesn’t He?  So, are any of us, who read here, convicted by this?  If so, take in the linked song; and let’s go out and show a little love today, which, as the song sings, the world needs so desperately now.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Alyson Kieda AT THIS LINK   … writes of a missionary being shipwrecked during a journey and, making their way safely to land, the survivors found a Bible washed up on shore; and when it dried, they read Psalm 107 (see highlight passages) where God promises to be with believers in the midst of the storms (i.e., trials and troubles) of life. And God’s word helped the missionary and the others find peace in the midst of their troubles, just as His truth can give us peace in our trials now.   

And my regular readers may think me somewhat lazy today because many of the Scriptures quoted/linked above are the same as those I used yesterday in my journaling of the ODB entry yesterday.  That is, save one, … which are the three Gospel stories (in Matthew 8, Mark 4, and Luke 8) of Jesus calming the waters to save the disciples in the storm on the Sea of Galilee. 

May I assume that readers here have sometime have been dealing with a raging storm. Maybe you are now as I am, … going thru chronic, sometimes debilitating pain.  Maybe you’ve gone thru the loss of a loved one or maybe severe financial troubles.  But as someone said, … “we’ve all either gone thru the storm, are in the storm, or will soon be going thru a storm.”  And so, I pray we all hear the linked song and meditate deeply on the scriptures above to have peace, knowing that our Lord will always be there to take us thru the storm, even if the storm takes us home, where the waters will always be as Jesus spoke and calmed the waters.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Julie Schwab AT THIS LINK   … writes of a woman experiencing a stray bullet coming into her apartment and her fear being calmed, realizing that God had protected her.  

  

And when the circumstances of life would normally produce feelings of fear, we, who have a deep and abiding relationship with Christ, can know, from His promises (see Scriptures above) that our Lord promises to be our refuge and strength in times of trouble (specifically see Psalms 46:1 [photo] and 121:2). 

And Oh how I, personally, needed those grace-filling and strengthening promises today, dealing with severe/chronic pain and not knowing when - if ever - medical or surgical treatments can help. But, … just knowing that I can rely on God’s strength and His grace as I move forward; and His promises are enough for me to be uplifted today.

Perhaps readers here with me are dealing with overwhelming challenges today or know that they may lie ahead.  Well, PLEASE take in the Brooklyn Tab singing from Psalm 121 thru the linked song above.  And if you do, I know you will be uplifted with strength as was I today and for the future.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Bill Crowder AT THIS LINK   … writes of a horrible coal mining accident in 1907 in West Virginian, where hundreds of men, who were fathers in their families, we lost; and it is said that that horrible devastating incident led to the annual celebration of Father’s Day in America.  

  

And there is no more horrific incident in human history than Jesus Christ unjustly being nailed to a Roman cross.  Yet, that incident is remembered and even celebrated because of what followed Christ’s death … His resurrection and Christ ascending back to heaven and sending His Spirit, … just as He said He would (see John 14:26).  And then His Spirit will teach us and remind us to remember what our Savior has done for us by celebrating His victory over sin/death and by following Christ’s own instructions to share the worship of Christ’s table [ie., our communion]. 

And I’m praying that all of us take Christ’s instructions (and the teaching of the Apostle Paul in 1Corinthians 11 to come to the Lord’s table regularly with an attitude of surrender and celebration … to remember what our Lord has done for us.  So join me, by hearing Charles Wesley’s hymn in the linked song, and to seriously remember and celebrate Christ’s victory over death and sin; and then when we come to His table soon, … take the elements with reverence, as we surrender to receive His love and grace.

And I hope that all reading here with me have at least one loyal friend like that.  But … even if we don’t have a human friend who is loyal and caring no matter what we might have done in the past, all real disciples of Christ do have a (capital F) Friend, … One Who knows EVERYTHING about us; and yet HE (AKA - GOD) still loves us.  And He’s the One we can go to - and follow - knowing the truth of what Andy Irons sings in the clever linked song; and believing what God says to us about His omniscient friendship in the Scriptures above.   

 And so, I’m praying that we all lift up a prayer of gratitude for a Friend-of-all friends; and a prayer, as in the highlight passage, for our Friend, Who knows our heart, to show us the way - His way - as we follow Him all the way home. 

Our Friend knows the way.  All we need to do is follow Him.
