Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 231
Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Stuart Townsend, leading in worship and singing … And Can It Be … Joyfully singing from an old Charles Wesley classic, and celebrating in song the finished work of Christ on the cross and His resurrection, defeating sin and death.
Highlight Passage: Luke 22:19 [NLT] …
19 He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
… Jesus instructs His Apostles to remember Him after He had left them by sharing His table, what we still do to this day with our communion (i.e., Eucharist) celebration and remembrance. =============

Reference Passage: Psalm 103:2 [NLT] …
Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.</i>
… King David sings forth an attitude that all believers should have … to never forget what God has done for us.
Reference Passage: … John 14:26 [NLT] …
26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit— He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
… Jesus teaches His disciples at His last supper that after He went back to heaven, He would send the Holy Spirit to teach and remind them (and us) of the Lord’s finished work and all that He does and will do for us.
Reference Passage: … 1Corinthians 11:20:34 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK ...
… Paul helps Christians in Corinth how to remember and honor the Lord by coming to His table, i.e., Communion worship, with an attitude of surrender and remembrance, celebrating what He did for us on the cross to defeat sin and death.
My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Bill Crowder AT THIS LINK … writes of a horrible coal mining accident in 1907 in West Virginian, where hundreds of men, who were fathers in their families, we lost; and it is said that that horrible devastating incident led to the annual celebration of Father’s Day in America.
And there is no more horrific incident in human history than Jesus Christ unjustly being nailed to a Roman cross. Yet, that incident is remembered and even celebrated because of what followed Christ’s death … His resurrection and Christ ascending back to heaven and sending His Spirit, … just as He said He would (see John 14:26). And then His Spirit will teach us and remind us to remember what our Savior has done for us by celebrating His victory over sin/death and by following Christ’s own instructions to share the worship of Christ’s table [ie., our communion].
And I’m praying that all of us take Christ’s instructions (and the teaching of the Apostle Paul in 1Corinthians 11 to come to the Lord’s table regularly with an attitude of surrender and celebration … to remember what our Lord has done for us. So join me, by hearing Charles Wesley’s hymn in the linked song, and to seriously remember and celebrate Christ’s victory over death and sin; and then when we come to His table soon, … take the elements with reverence, as we surrender to receive His love and grace.
My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … thank You, Lord, for Your Table where we come to share in remembering Your body and blood, broken and shed so that any of us who know You can receive Your saving and sanctifying grace.
My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … come to Your table soon with an attitude of surrender and celebration. … Amen
