My Journal for Today: Take a good look at the attached photo. What does this image say to you? To me it says that often we can see the light best when it’s seen in the perspective of surrounding darkness. In other words, we’re often given the best perspective on life when we come through the darkness and see the light.

Today the two highlight passages from the Our Daily Bread devotional come from the beginning and the end of the biblical journal we read as the book of Job in the Bible. Job, as we know, is one of the Bible’s greatest stories of ultimate perspective, Job having seen and lived out what Laura Story sings about in her very poignant and personal song entitled, Blessings, to which you are linked for meditation above.

So often, as with Job, we lose a Godly perspective on life because of the trials and tribulations presented by the circumstances life presents; and we have trouble seeing the truth of what Paul wrote in Romans 8: 28. In the midst of the dark trials of life it’s often very hard to see the light, isn’t it? But as with Job, when we come through the trials and get on the other side of those life challenges, we can see that God intended us to go through the darkness so that we could have a better perspective – HIS perspective – of His light shining through the darkness. As Laura Story sings, ”What if trials of this life are [God’s] mercies in disguise?”

I don’t know where you are today; but today’s Our Daily Bread could not have come at a better time for me, going though a very dark trial right now. And all of the truth put before me today has helped me to see God’s light shining in the midst of the darkness.

My Prayer for Today … Thank you, Lord, for YOUR perspective. Help me to ake it mine!! … Amen
