Reference Passage #1: Leviticus 19: 17-18 [NKJV] …
17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.

Reference Passage #2: Luke 10: 27 [NKJV] …
27 So He answered [the lawyer/Pharisee] and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ [Deut. 6: 5] and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’” [Lev. 19: 18]

Reference Passage #3: Galatians 5: 13-15 [NKJV] …
13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

Reference Passage #4: Philippians 2: 3-4 [NKJV] …
3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

My Journal for Today: How many times does God’s word have to say, so very clearly, You shall love your neighbor as yourself!! before we internalize this LAW OF LOVE and before we activate Christ’s law into the way we treat one another?

My meditation from the Our Daily Bread devotional today touts a principle which is found ever so repeatedly in the Old and New Testaments; and according to Jesus (see the Luke 10 verse above – just before Jesus taught from the parable of the Good Samaritan), it’s at the heart of our life application of God’s Law.

So, can we just agree that we’ve fallen woefully short of the Law of Love in our world; and then can we agree to do all we can to apply it to our hearts individually, in the Church, and as we have influence in our world?

My Prayer for Today … Lord, help me to become a beacon of Your Love in my world. … Amen
