Reference Passage #1: Isaiah 40: 31 [NKJV] …
31 But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

Reference Passage #2: Isaiah 64: 4 [NKJV] …
4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.

Reference Passage #1: 1st John 2: 15-16 [NKJV] …
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

My Journal for Today: Today I totally agree with the title and the message of the Our Daily Bread devotional entry. We are a world that his become lustfully involved with instant gratification. As a culture we’ve taken on a “MacDonald’s Mentality,” wanting our food FAST, rather than being willing to wait on a chef to prepare a gourmet meal for us.

The devotional related the story of the Polaroid Corporation bringing our their revolutionary camera in the early 70s, where we could watch a rather fuzzy photo develop right after we took it, which was no where as clear as a good 35 mm photo which we had to wait several days to have developed; … but Polaroid was there for us INSTANLY. And now we take our digital “selfies” with our cell phone cameras and send them INSTANTLY to our friends on Facebook or even more INSTANTLY via texting.

I think you get the picture. We’ve become a culture that lusts after speedy and selfish gratification, … not willing to wait on doing life God’s way, which so often requires that delayed gratification. But for those who do wait on God, they discover the truth, as did David in writing his Psalm 27 or Isaiah in the passages copied above, which God’s Spirit led him to write.

So, this morning I looked out the window and it had iced over and snowed; and here in the midsouth of the USA, things shut down – or at least slow down - when this happens. So, it may be a message – from God - to us down here in the South to slow down and take it easy, … to wait on searching out and following God’s way, rather than trying to satisfy the tyranny of the urgent. Therefore, I’ll do all I can today to wait on God and do life His way. How about you?

My Prayer for Today … Lord, thank You for reminding me to WAIT ON YOU. … Amen
