My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Katara Patton … AT THIS LINK  tells of a young mother ALWAYS cutting a pot-roast in half (see photo) before putting the meat in her large pan for roasting.  She told her daughter that she did it that way because that was the way her mother had done it, … learning later that was done that way because her mother didn’t have a pot big enough for the large piece of meat.

Sometimes we end up doing things over and over in certain ways, like Zero Mostel sings in the linked song … because of TRADITION.   And when we older folks do that, we may hear our kids or grandkids, these days, saying, “REALLY?? … WHATEVER, !!”

So, maybe we need to pause in our lives and do a self-inventory, guided by God’s truth in the Scriptures above. and check out to see if our life practices are honoring God or are they part of our lives because of mind-less … man-made … traditions? I’m going to leave it to my readers and God’s Spirit to work that one out.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for showing us the way to follow You, … thru your word rather than maybe Facetime or YouTube or the way mamma did it.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to take stock of the way we’re living our lives for You, Lord.     … Amen
