My Journal for Today:  Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Tim Gustafson, related a cute personal story to illustrate his devotional blog. He wrote: One morning as Lilia prepared for work, her 4-year-old daughter Jess set to work too. The family had purchased a conveyor toaster, and the concept of cycling bread through the small countertop oven fascinated Jess. Minutes later, Lilia discovered a loaf and a half of toast piled on the counter. “I’m a very good baker!” Jess declared.

No mystery how little Jess could turn all that bread into toast; but then author Gustafson related that to Jesus’ teaching in John, Chapter 6 where Jesus first fed all those thousands with just a few fishes and loaves of bread. And then He blew the minds of those who’d been fed and the local religious leaders by telling them that HE was the bread of life and they should feed on His truth rather than concentrating and relying on the bread they could make from the wheat of the earth.

You know, … if you’ve come here anytime in the past and read my daily blog, posted here and elsewhere every morning, … some may wonder why I do this. Well, every day I use the ODB devotional and delve deeply as I can into God’s word each day to partake of God’s living waters and His bread of life; and I hope you see that I’m not doing this daily to impress you. No, … I’m much more selfish than that. I want as much as I can get from God’s table and the offerings of His bread of life.

I recognize and believe that God’s truth is the bread of life and it’s also the inexhaustible source of living water Christ showed to the woman at the well in John, Chapter 4. So I come here every day to get my share - as much as I can glean - of God’s manna… His bread of life and His living waters. So, if you come here and share that with me each day, we’ll be well nourished, … for sure!

My Prayer Today:  Oh, my Lord, … Give me more today. Feed me, dear Jesus, from Your bread of life and Your living waters. Give me what I can use for life and the rest to share with others.    … Amen
