August 19, 2015:  Creating for God’s Glory

Daily Berry Patch Devotions in 2015 - Day 230

Devotional Song:  … GO TO THIS LINK … Please take the time to take in a video of Brian Doerksen singing Creation Calls reminding us that all of those created by God, The Creator, are to reflect His glory in who we are and what we do in this life.

Highlight Passage:  Exodus 31: 1-3 [NKJV]  …
1 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, …
… When God led Moses to build the Tabernacle, the Lord called specific artisans to craft all the furnishings for His dwelling place.

Highlight Context – Exodus 31: 1-11 [NKJV] … USE THIS LINK  …
…  Some are called by God to use their talents and gifts for His glory …

Reference Passage #1 - 1st Corinthians 6: 19 [NKJV] …
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
… Saved Christians become the living temple of God’s Spirit … hence we are to do all we can to outfit our Temple for God’s glory.

Reference Passage #2 - Ephesians 2: 8-10 [NKJV] … USE THIS LINK
…  In faith we are born again to be His workmanship on this earth all the years we are given to reflect His creation for His glory.

My Journal for Today:  Today’s Our Daily Bread author, Dennis Fisher, used a word picture illustration of artisans and artists who use their creative talents to reflect God’s creation and His glory in this world; and it reminded me of traveling to Jerusalem several years ago and seeing a group of Orthodox Jewish artisans who had been collected and funded to rebuild what Jewish scholars believe are the articles which should be in the rebuilt Temple of God [see attached photo of many of the articles this group has created]. These artists/artisans believe they are recreating the artifacts and articles spoken of in Old Testament Scripture which they believe will be necessary in a rebuilt Temple of David when their “Messiah” comes in glory to restore Israel to it prophesied glory.

Now, we New Covenant Christians believe that these young, gifted artisans have the timeline of God’s story wrong; and that their Messiah has already come; and that He, Christ, will return again to establish His forever Kingdom. However, … we must admire the desire of these young Jews to use their talents and gifts, creating and crafting for God’s coming New Jerusalem. And we, who believe that Christ has come to save us and to be His workmanship on earth (see Eph. 2: 10 linked above), should realize that we should be doing all we can to keep God’s Temple (i.e., our bodies - see 1st Cor. 6: 19) clean and prepared for Christ’s return. And we should be using all that God has crafted into our bodies to reflect His glory by using our gifts/talents to create in or with His Temple as God did in using special artisans to prepare His dwelling place in the Tabernacle (see the highlight passage in Exodus 31: 1-11 linked above).

The question from today’s ODB entry - at least for me - becomes - "Am I using my Temple [i.e., body] as God has created me ... for His glory; and what can I do today to prepare His Temple for His return?"

My Prayer Today:  Oh, my Lord, … I pray that my life and works declare Your glory as do Your creation [see song linked above]   … Amen

Blogger Note:  Everyday during this year, my daily devotional blogs are influenced by the reading and study of the online devotional blog entitled Our Daily Bread, distributed online via email by RBC Ministries.  If you GO TO THIS LINK on the date of my blog, you can read/study the ODB blogs; or you can subscribe to the blog via email at that site.
