Dec 16, 2020 … Christmas Wonder

Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 351

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...    Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Chris Tomlin singing a modern version of the old Christmas hymn… Angels We Have Heard on High …  powerfully singing of the wonder and glory we should all feel at Christmas when we contemplate what the shepherds must’ve felt when the angels sang of the coming of God’s Son in a lowly Bethlehem manger.

Highlight Passage:   Hebrews 1:6 [ESV] ...

And again, when He brings the firstborn into the world, He says, … “Let all God's angels worship Him.”

We should all share in the wonder of God allowing His Son to come into the world to save us all.

The Apostle Paul declares the preeminence of Christ, which we should feel as we worship our Lord at Christmas.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Sheridan Voysey, AT THIS LINK writes of seeing the Christmas lights on Regent Street in London (see photo) and experiencing at least a human sampling of the joy of the Heavenly Host singing of the coming of the Christ child at the first Christmas.

And after expressing his Christmas wonder at that glorious sight - in lights - on that London street, the ODB author asks us - his readers - if we at Christmas, … or really anytime, … experience the wonder of what God the Father did for us, … for all of mankind, … by giving us His Son to be born on that first Christmas morn.

And I can honestly say that I experienced a sampling of that wonder just last night when a group of men, pursuing a deeper, more abiding, relationship with our Lord, gathered on a Zoom call to share how we can worship the Christ by living in deeper obedience to Him.  It must’ve been - just a little bit - of what those shepherds must’ve felt like when they saw that chorus of angels singing like Chris Tomlin sings in the linked song.

Oh, how I pray we all try to mediate on the glory of what God, our Heavenly Father, did for us on that first Christmas day.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for bringing the awe of the birth of The Christ to us each year at this time so that we can celebrate Your coming to save us from ourselves.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray that all reading here will join me today, trying to experience a little of the awe of what those shepherds must’ve felt when they heard the Angels singing in those Bethlehem fields.   … Amen
