Dec 20, 2020 … Seeking the Green

Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 355

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...    Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Marty Goetz singing … Psalm 23 …  poignantly singing King David’s great song of rest and peace from God’s Good Shepherd.

A Patch of Green ...

==============

Highlight Passage:   Psalm 23:1-3 [ESV] ...

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2  He makes me lie down in green pastures.  He leads me beside still waters.    He restores my soul.

  God offers to lead us to His place of rest when we’re weary.

Reference Passage: … Philippians 4:6-7 [ESV] … USE THIS LINK

  Paul teaching fellow Christians (and that’s us!) to take our circumstances to the Lord with a thankful heart and receive His peace.

Reference Passage: … 1Peter 5:6-7 [ESV] ...

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because He cares for you.

  When we’re over-burdened, we must take our cares to our caring God, Who, in His time, will lift us up.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Elisa Morgan, AT THIS LINK tells of a weary plane traveler, delayed and waiting to take off, who looked out the window and saw a patch of green grass growing thru the tarmac pavement (see photo), which made the man think of soon resting at home with family.  That small patch of green gave him peace in the midst of the stress of delay.

It’s a picture of so many these days who seek rest and relief from the stresses of our covid times and the unrest we see in our world.  We all are likely in need of exactly what God offers any of us in His word, … don’t we?  It’s the rest Marty Goetz sings in his rendition of King David’s Psalm 23.  It’s the rest from stress Jesus offered His disciples in Matthew 11.   And, … it’s the relief Paul and Peter offer up in the Philippians 4 and 1Peter 5 passages above.

Is that the patch of green in the midst of this hard life which my readers seek?  Well, why don’t we take God up on His offer to receive the peace He seeks to give us today?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for being willing - and able - to give us some peace in the midst of this hard life.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray that all reading here will join me today, to seek and receive God’s peace in the midst of these hard times.   … Amen
