Dec 4, 2020 … What Can I do?

Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 339

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Matthew West singing … Do Something … pointedly singing of how we as disciples of Christ were created to follow His lead and “Do Something” to serve others’ needs.

Donated winter clothing ...

Highlight Passage:   1John 3:18 [ESV] ...

18 Little children [i.e., new Christians] , let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

We are called, as Christians, to show our love for others by DOING SOMETHING to serve their needs.

Highlight Passage [Context]: …  1John 3:16-18  [ESV] …  USE THIS LINK …

… God calls Christians, thru the Apostle John, to follow the example of our Lord to serve others when we see them in need.

Reference Passage: … Proverbs 19:17 [ESV] …

17  Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed.

God, thru Solomon, calls all believers to do God’s work by helping others.

Reference Passage: … Luke 6:38 [ESV] …

38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Jesus tells His followers that God will reward those who help others in the proportion that we’re willing to give those in need.

Reference Passage: … Philippians 2:3-5 [ESV] … USE THIS LINK

Paul exhorts fellow Christians to have a servant’s mind, like Christ, in doing all we can to help others in need.

Reference Passage: … Galatians 6:2 [ESV] …

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Paul exhorts fellow Christians (that’s us!) to bear each others’ burdens and thus fulfilling Christ’s law of love.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Cindy Hess Kasper, AT THIS LINK tells of a family with 10 kids, moving from a warm climate to Michigan and being helped by new neighbors who donated winter clothing (see photo) to outfit the family for the northern winter.

And that’s a good story to illustrate what Matthew West sings about in the linked song, ... which is a song that gets under my emotional “skin,” … calling Christians to express the attitude of our Lord (see Phil 2:3-5) by helping others who need it.

Ouch, … that zinged me!!  … How about you?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for showing me that we can do more to help others.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray that all reading here will join me to reach out and do more, maybe today, with the attitude of Christ, to help others in need.   … Amen
