Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 183

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from the group Jesus Culture singing … One Thing Remains … poignantly singing how God’s love never runs out on any/all who show our love for Him by loving others.

Jacob's favoritism causes family division ...

=============
Highlight Passage : … Genesis 37:3-4 [NLT] ... 3 Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph—a beautiful robe. 4 But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him.
… Showing favoritism can create division and hatred even in a family.

Reference Passage : … 1Timothy 5:21 [NLT] ... 21 I solemnly command you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus and the highest angels to obey these instructions without taking sides or showing favoritism to anyone.
 … Paul helps Timothy pastor other Christians my without showing any favoritism.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Cindy Hess Kasper, AT THIS LINK relates a modern day story about favoritism, comparing it to the Old Testament story of how Jacob, showing favoritism toward Joseph and brought division to his family; and how we, as Christians, must avoid showing favoritism to others in the family of God … or really to anyone in our world.

And how pertinent is that principle to what we see exploding in our world today, … with division and chaos resulting from those claiming that there is racial favoritism causing division in our world?!

My friend and fellow Christian, … if one takes in the linked song and believes the Scriptures above, certainly we must see that God shows no favoritism to any type or group of people in this world of people whom He created for His glory.

God loves all, … you, me, and all others EQUALLY!! So, my prayer today is that all reading here can find some way to express our love and caring concern for others … and then even more so tomorrow!

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for loving all of us and willingly giving any/all Your cloak of righteousness!
=============

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me, … to put on Christ’s cloak of righteousness today and go out and show love to others … ALL OTHERS … just as He has loved us. Amen
