We get to choose !!

… God, thru Solomon, gives us a choice.

Highlight Passage #2 : … Proverbs 11:28 [Message] ... 28  A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree.

Highlight Passage [context] : … Proverbs 11:24-30 [NLT] ... USE THIS LINK
… Solomon on choosing between God and our desires.
=============

Reference Passage : … Ecclesiastes 5:10-12 [NLT] ... USE THIS LINK
… Solomon came to realize and teach that wealth and power seldom bring satisfaction in life.

Reference Passage : … Matthew 6:24 [NLT] ...   24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.
… Jesus clearly states what our choice is in life … but we must choose because we cannot serve two masters.

Reference Passage : … 1Timothy 6:10 [NLT] ...   10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
 … Paul helps Timothy (and us) realize that pursuing money and things in this life can become the root of all kinds of evil desires.

Reference Passage : … Hebrews 13:5a [NLT] ... 5 Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
… The author of Hebrews, by quoting from Deut. 31:6, helps Christians realize that we need to be satisfied with God’s promise to always be there to satisfy our souls.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Adam R Holz, AT THIS LINK writes about a lesson we all have to learn and then uses the wisdom of Solomon in Proverbs 11 to show us that God gives us a free-will choice … to pursue the stuff of life or to pursue a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus.

Yes, by giving us free will, God gives us that choice. But in His word (see Reference Scriptures above), God makes it clear, doesn’t He, that we can’t serve two masters. The beautiful truth, however, gleaned from God’s word, is that when we choose to fill our minds and hearts with His love and grace, as the group Hillsong sings in the linked song, we come to realize that a deep and abiding relationship with Christ is all we really need in life.

I pray all reading here have discovered that truth and join me today to avoid pursuing the STUFF of life and go deep in pursuing a more abiding and fulfilling relationship with Christ.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for showing me that You are all I need.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me, … to do all we can to fill our minds and hearts with God’s love and grace and avoid surrendering to pursue the stuff the world wants to sell us. Amen
