My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, John Blase, AT THIS LINK  uses the 2018 fire in Woolsey, CA (see photo), to illustrate the damage that just a small spark can do when it is blown by winds into a raging fire, … further illustrating what James wrote about in the highlight passage, … teaching on the power of our words to lift up or tear down others.

When I was a kid, I remember both of my parents echoing - rather loudly - the same parenting words whenever I spoke improperly. They’d say, … “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all!” Perhaps my readers had the same parents. … LOL!! … Well, maybe not that; but I’d bet some of you have heard those sentiments spoken by your parents or teachers or mentors in your life.

Because these truths came from the biblical writings of the brother of Jesus, … James, … in his very practical, but powerful, words [see James 3 passage], which were inspired and authored by God’s Spirit as God teaches us about the power of the tongue and also from other truths from God’s word (see reference passages).

Our words, as Hawk Nelson sings in the linked song, can bring life or death. They can lift others up or tear them down. So, I pray today that we’ll do what Paul wrote about in Eph. 4:29 and only use our words to either share God’s love/grace or to lift someone up; … and then let’s all do more of that tomorrow.

=============
My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for sharing Your life giving word with me so that I can share Your life with others by what I speak today.
=============

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me, … to use our words today to lift someone up and give them the love and grace of God. Amen
