My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, James Banks, AT THIS LINK - https://odb.org/2020/07/25/plod-on - wrote of the persistence of William Carey, who was called to be a missionary; and, tho unschooled, learned many languages to be able to translate scripture for those he was called, as a missionary, to bring the Gospel.

And then the ODB author used the biblical story of Gideon [in the highlight passage], whom God called, tho Gideon considered himself inadequate, to become God’s “mighty warrior” and to go up against the mighty Midianites, the enemies of God. Gideon learned that as long as God was with him, he could persist and win God’s battles. And that’s the message the Apostle Paul repetitively exhorted fellow Christians to learn (see Pauline passages above) … that nothing we are ever called to do for the Lord and for God’s kingdom will ever be in vain; and that we must “Press On,” as Selah sings in the linked song.

Oh, how I needed to take in this message today! Perhaps you, like me, become discouraged at times and need to remember that God’s calling is His enablement … for any task we’re called to do for His kingdom, … no matter what it is!! So, let’s press on today … for our good and His glory!

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me, to “keep on keeping on,” plodding upward and onward (see photo) for God’s glory. … Amen
