July 7, 2020 … Patiently Waiting

Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 189

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from John Waller singing … While I’m Waiting … poignantly singing of we, as Christians, must often wait on God’s ways which often seem too slow for our own timing in life.

Mother Robin patiently waiting ...

Highlight Passage : … Habakkuk 2:3 [NLT] ... 3  This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Elisa Morgan, AT THIS LINK uses the image of robin’s eggs waiting to hatch (see photo) to illustrate how we, as Christians, cannot hurry God’s ways from unfolding in HIS timing, rather than impatiently desiring that the Lord meet our time expectations.

These days in a gourmet restaurant young people have trouble waiting for their food to come because we live in a time of fast-food mentality. We don’t like to wait, with patience, as God would have us wait on His ways to unfold in life. And that was even the case for a confused and impatient Prophet of God, Habakkuk, [see highlight passage]. The Prophet had to learn, as we should today, to wait on God’s ways to unfold in HIS timing rather than to meet our impatient expectations. A robin’s eggs will hatch; but on God’s predetermined schedule, … not on ours.

So, today, as we deal with this Covid-19 virus, we’d like for the threat to be over today, wouldn’t we? But as we take in the linked song and the Scriptures above, I pray that we let God’s ways and HIS will unfold in HIS timing … as we, as HIS people, wait on HIM to do HIS thing … as we should know it will be for our good and His glory [see Rom. 8:28].

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for helping me to wait on You today.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me, … to wait … in prayer … for God’s will to unfold in our lives in His good timing. Amen
