Oct 4, 2020 … Open My Eyes, Lord

Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 278

Devotional Song</u>: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...    Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from the Maranatha Singers singing … Open My Eyes, Lord … poignantly singing of how we need to pray to have God’s Spirit open our eyes/ears to His will, and His way, thru His word.

God shows up and shows out ... !!!

Highlight Passage:  2Kings 6:17  [ESV] ...

17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

God answered the prayer of Elisha to open the eyes of his servant to see God’s angel armies.

Reference Passage: …  Psalm 119:18 [ESV] …

18 Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

… The Psalmist prays, as we should, to have our eyes opened to God’s way from His word.

Reference Passage: …  Proverbs 3:5-6 [ESV] …  USE THIS LINK

… God wants us to see the world thru eyes of trust in Him.

Reference Passage: …  Isaiah 32:3 [ESV] …

3  Then the eyes of those who see will not be closed, and the ears of those who hear will give attention.

… Isaiah prophesies that one day (i.e., when Jesus comes again) the eyes/ears of the true believers will be opened to truly see/hear the truths of God.

Reference Passage: …  Ephesians 4:18 [ESV] …

<i> 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.

… Paul teaches that we become blinded from the truth when we try to see the world thru our own ignorant and blinded eyes.

Reference Passage: …  1Peter 5:6-7 [ESV] …

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

… Peter helping oppressed Christians to see that they (we) should cast our cares on a God Who cares dearly for His children.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Tim Gustafson, AT THIS LINK uses a true story of a grieving military wife, who had lost a baby, who was blinded to the truth that there were other military wives who could help her with their empathy and comfort, having gone thru the same trial, … illustrating how God wants us to see the truth thru His eyes of truth rather than leaning on our own perception of life in the midst of our pain.

And I must admit conviction when I hear the linked song and meditate on the scriptures above; because all too often I get down in my self-created dumper, trying my best to see my own trials or circumstances thru my own eyes, rather than seeking to see things thru God’s heavenly perspective.

Common, my fellow blinded Christian, we all do it at times, don’t we?  And I’m praying today that, … if we’re rapped up in our own blindness, that we do what God desires of us, … just as He did for Elisha’s servant in today’s highlight passage and the rest of the reference passages; … and that is to bring our cares to Him and pray for His vision (thru our trust in Him) to see things His way, thru His word, as we move forward.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for giving me Your clarity on life thru the eyes of Your truth.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me today, to clarify our vision on our trials thru the lenses of Your truth. … Amen
