My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Bill Crowder, uses a personal story of an uncle who completely trusted a knowledgeable friend who knew the way to go in life. … The ODB author wrote: Uncle Zaki was more than a friend to scholar Kenneth Bailey; he was his trusted guide on challenging excursions into the vast Sahara. By following Uncle Zaki, Bailey says that he and his team were demonstrating their complete trust in him. In essence, they were affirming, “We don’t know the way to where we are going, and if you get us lost we will all die. We have placed our total trust in your leadership.”

In these viral and anger-ridden times in which we find ourselves, life is so confusing and fearful for sure. So, in times like these, I’ve often used the mental picture of needing a “GPS” to help us find our way. And that’s what today’s OBD entry is all about, isn’t it?

When we’re floundering in confusion and doubt, we, who declare King Jesus as our LORD, have the “bestest” GPS there is, don’t we? The question is whether we’re willing to trust our Lord enough to be our “GPS,” [“God’s Positional System”] … denying ourselves (as God commanded in Prov. 3:5-6 and Luke 9:23) and surrendering to follow our Lord as we carry the crosses of life. Are we willing to make Him our Good Shepherd and let Him lead us (see Ps. 23) out of this deathly darkness into the glory of His light?

Because … we are like sheep in need of a Shepherd, aren’t we (see Is. 53:6)?! … So, … my fellow Christian, … COMMON today … let’s follow our Good Shepherd, using His “GPS” (i.e., His word) … just as the three friends in the linked song sing.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for showing us THE way … Your way … from the “GPS” of Your word !!

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me today, and let go of trying to find our way on our own and just surrender to follow the “GPS” of Your truth. Amen
