My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, David H Roper, uses a story of learning to use a cross cut saw to illustrate how we must learn how to let the saw do the cutting rather than doing it on our own. … The ODB author wrote: My father and I used to fell trees and cut them to size with a two-man crosscut saw. Being young and energetic, I tried to force the saw into the cut. “Easy does it,” my father would say. “Let the saw do the work.” [see photo]

I believe our human nature is set up to work against using a two man cross-cut saw. We’re geared up, in our sinful minds and bodies, to try to do things on our own, … to control things independently, … aren’t we? And yet in our Christian lives, our Lord, King Jesus, invites us to let Him give us the strength to help us deal with felling the trees in life [see Matt. 11:28-30 and 2Cor. 12:9), especially when we work with other Christians to bring down those trees [see photo].

Yet, as the Apostle Paul discovered, and often taught (see Pauline scriptures above), we need to surrender to God’s will and use HIS power, thru HIS Spirit, to give us HIS empowering grace in doing our work for HIS glory. As Stuart Townsend sings, we need to let our Lord’s strength give us the power to do our work for HIS glory in every waking moment of life. And when we do that, HE will give us the strength of HIS purpose in cutting down the trees of life. I pray we do that today.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for giving me the power of Your grace to fell my trees today.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me today, to capture the strength our Lord offers us to work for His glory. Amen
