January 21, 2022 … Giving While Living …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 21

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in a song and lyrics from Chris Tomlin singing … I Will Follow … poignantly singing of how we, as Christ’s disciples must be willing to follow Him in His service … ALWAYS.

Highlight Passage: …  John 9:4a [NLT] …

We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us.

… Jesus calls on His disciples to be willing to do all they (and we) can to serve God whenever we can to serve our Heavenly Father.

Highlight Passage [Context]: … John 9:1-12 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… Jesus heals a blind man on the Sabbath to show that He was about doing all He could, whenever He could, to carry out the will of His Father.

==========                                              .

Reference Passage: … John 12:26 [NLT] …

26 Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.

… Jesus commands His disciples (and that’s us too!) to be willing to follow and serve the Lord in all we think, say, and do.

Reference Passage: … Romans 12:1 [NLT] …

16 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.

… Paul exhorts fellow Christians to live for Christ … ALWAYS, … becoming living agents of sacrifice in all we think, say, and do.

Reference Passage: … 1Corinthians 15:58 [NLT] …

58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

… Paul teaches fellow Christians that anything AND everything we do for the Lord is never in vain.

Reference Passage: … Colossians 3:17, 23-24 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK

… Paul teaching fellow Christians how to live for Christ … in all things … ALWAYS!

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, John Blasé, AT THIS LINK  writes of a billionaire who decided to give away his fortune (see photo), doing good for the world while he was still living, saying, “I believe strongly in giving while living. I see little reason to delay giving. . . . Besides, it’s a lot more fun to give while you live than to give while you’re dead.”

And for Christians, that’s the attitude we’re called to have by Jesus and His Apostles, … like Paul, isn’t it (see Scriptures above)?  it’s the “give while we live” attitude that Christ exhibited when He healed the blind man in the highlight passage; and it’s the attitude and action Christ calls us to have to become the living sacrifices that Paul called fellow Christians to become (see Rom 12:1, 1Cor 15:58 and Col 3:17).

So, I pray that we all do ALL we can to serve our Lord’s call to service in His Name today.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving us, … Your disciples,  … Your enabling grace to serve You today.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to do all we can to be Your living sacrifices in service to You, Lord, today. . … Amen
