Following God's Truth In Life ...

==============

Highlight Passage: … 2Timothy 3:16-17   [NLT] …

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

  Paul shows Timothy (and us) that God’s word is our GPS in life, and by following God’s truth we stay on track.

Highlight Passage [Context]: …  2Timothy 3:10-17 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… God, thru Paul to Timothy, charges fellow Christians to follow God’s truth and live it out in our lives.

==========                                              .

Reference Passage: … Joshua 1:8 [NLT] …

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

… God shows Joshua (and us) that we must follow God’s truth (i.e., His word) at al times to be able to carry out His will and follow God’s ways.

Reference Passage: … Psalm 119:9-11 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… God, thru David, sings of the power of God’s word to keep us on track in following God’s way and His will.

Reference Passage: … Psalm 119:105 [NLT] …

105 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

… David again sings of the life directing power of God’s word.

Reference Passage: … Hebrews 4:12 [NLT] …

12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires

… God, in the book of Hebrews, describes the power of God’s word to lead us in life.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Xochitl Dixon, AT THIS LINK   writes about a friend, Emma, who was a “walking bible,” having memorized many life guiding scriptures and shared them with others, living out what she had learned to follow from God’s word. .

Years ago, when I was a “newby” Christian, a mentor recognized what a biblically illiterate new Christian I was.   He challenged - and led me - to memorize scripture; and the discipline changed my life and my behavior forever after.  And according to God’s own word (see the promise of the Scriptures above) if any of us know and internalize God’s truth (i.e., the Bible) and we follow it, we will more likely find and follow God’s will and His ways than those who don’t know God’s truth.

That’s what Paul charged Timothy in the highlight passage.  It’s what King David sang about in Psalm 119.  And it’s what God showed Joshua to lead God’s people into the Promised Land.  But the question is … just how much do we really want to find and follow God’s will and His ways?  Because if we do, … we’ll take up His word as our “GPS” for life and then use it EVERY DAY to lead us in following our Lord all the way to glory.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, …for giving us Your perfect GPS [Your word] to lead us in life.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to learn, know, and follow Your word, Lord, as our GPS in life.  … Amen
