October 2, 2022 … Just Like He Walked …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 275

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from tom Tim McGraw singing … Humble and Kind … poignantly singing of how we Christians should strive to be humble and kind, … just like our Lord.

==============

Highlight Passage … Ephesians 4:2  [ESV] …

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of Your love.

… Paul shows that living lives worthy of Christ is to be humble and gentle (i.e, meek or kind).

Highlight Passage (Context): …  Ephesians 4:1-15 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

The Apostle Paul exhorts and teaches fellow Christians to live lives worthy of Christ by doing al we can to walk or live like Jesus.                                                                                                   ===============                                                                     .

Reference Passage: …  Matthew 11:29 [ESV] …

29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

… Jesus invites Christians to yoke ourselves to Him, as He describes Himself.

Reference Passage: … John 15:1-4 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… Jesus teaches His disciples that we must abide in Him to be fruitful in life.

Reference Passage: …  1Corinthians 11:1 [ESV] …

Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

… Paul exhorted fellow Christians to follow Him; because the Apostle knew he was following Christ to become like our Lord.

Reference Passage: …  Philippians 2:5 [ESV] …

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

… Paul charged fellow Christians to do all we can to take on the attitude of Christ by the way we live our lives for Him.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Monica La Rose … AT THIS LINK  writes that the poet, Emily Dickinson, was quoted as saying, “Tell all the truth but tell it slant,” … meaning that we all should tell the truth, but do so with an attitude of gentleness or kindness because God’s truth can often be so bright it’s hard to see to follow it’s light.

And if I were ask a group, declaring themselves to be “Christians,” whether they all want to walk like Jesus, … very likely they (we) all would hold up their (our) hands, wouldn’t they (we)?  So, where and how would those Christians (or us) begin to walk as Jesus walks (see photo)?

Well, …  personally I think it’s a good idea to start becoming or walking like Jesus to see how Jesus described Himself.   And, … we can find those qualities in the only place in the NT where Jesus used adjectives to describe Himself.  And we can see in Matthew 11:29 that our Lord described Himself as “humble and kind” (or “kind” is also translated as “meek” or “gentle”).

So, I ask myself (as I hope all reading here will do), … what must I do to live like more Tim McGraw sings in the linked song or God’s word directs us in the Reference Scriptures above … to do all I (we) can to be humble and kind to to others, … in other words, …  to live as our Lord lived?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for calling me to walk as You walked, Lord.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to do all we can to walk humbly and with kindness, … just as You walked here on earth, dear Lord.     .… Amen
