Highlight Passage: … Obadiah 1:10   [ESV] …

10 You should not have gloated when they exiled your relatives to distant lands. You should not have rejoiced when the people of Judah suffered such misfortune. You should not have spoken arrogantly in that terrible time of trouble.

… God’s profit shows His judgment for the relatives of God’s people pridefully mistreating Judah in their time of misfortune, … showing how God desires compassion over pride to the shown always.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Karen Pimpo … AT THIS LINK shows how most of us react by laughing when see humorous TV clips of others experiencing misfortune and mistakes, … showing our very human attitude when we see others doing foolish things.

So, how should we react?  Well, if you’ve taken in the linked song and the Scriptures above, it’s easy to see how God would desire how we react when we see others experiencing misfortune.  In fact, in the highlight passage, we read how God severely judged the Edomites for taking advantage of the people of Judah, their relatives, when Judah was weakened and experiencing misfortune.

And in the remaining, reference Scriptures, we read how God’s word exhorts - and commands - us Christians to act when we see others experiencing misfortune or troubles.  Plainly stated, … we are to reach out with compassion - and most certainly fugitiveness - just as Jesus as reached out to show His infinite compassion and forgiveness to us.

And oh how I pray we will all do so today when - and if - God gives us the opportunity to set aside our pride and show compassion for others.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for showing compassion and forgiveness to me, and showing me what I must do for others.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to reaching out to show compassion for others whenever we have the opportunity today.      .… Amen
