My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Kimya Loder, … AT THIS LINK … makes reference to a book in 2004, written by psychologist, Barry Schwartz, entitled The Paradox of Choice, who wrote that having a myriad of choices may have some advantages but it can also produce indecision and stress which is unhealthy for the consumer.
I think we’d all recognize and acknowledge that we are overloaded with choices - especially informational choices - in this digital age; and trying to make the right - i.e., the Godly - choices can be very stressful, … even depressing, … leading sometimes to mental health issues. And that was the case in biblical times as well - both in the Old and New Testaments.
Reading and meditating on the Scriptures above, from Solomon in Proverbs, … to Luke quoting Jesus, … and to Jesus’ brother James, … we read of seeking out God’s direction and avoiding relying on our own perceptions and directions as the way to go to reduce our indecision and increase our success in following the Lord.
Where do you think we need to go for more wisdom and direction in making the decisions of life? Personally, you’ll find me seeking God’s direction thru His word here daily. Can you think of a better way to go to reduce the stress of decision making in our lives? … No, I didn’t think so!
My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for guiding me daily thru Your “GPS,” … your word.
My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to seek after Your wisdom, Lord, to help us make decisions today. Amen
