March 18, 2022 … Preventing the Foxes

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 77

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Joy Williams singing … Do They See Jesus In Me …  poignantly singing of how we, as brothers and sisters in Christ, must do all we can to bring us into alignment and unity with Christ so that others will see HIM in the way we live our lives.

Keeping the foxes out ...

… Jesus instructs His disciples (and us) to abide, as closely as we can, to grow closer to Him so that we can be more fruitful from this love relationship.

Highlight Passage [Context]: … John 17:22-23 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK ...

… Jesus prayed (and still prays in heaven) that we, His disciples, would do all we can to reflect our love relationship with Him so that others would see Him in us.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Mike Wittmer, … AT THIS LINK  writes of a small incident in an airline cockpit where a pilot spilled coffee and shorted out one of the engines causing an emergency and dangerous landing, … the story illustrating that not caring for small things, can have major damaging effects if not cared for PROactively.

And this was Solomon’s caring message in the highlight passage, where the author warned that if those (of us) who love the LORD don’t take care to prevent “the foxes” from getting into the vineyard (see photo), they can wreak havoc on the vineyard of God’s love with us.  The vineyard, of course, being our love relationship with the LORD, and the foxes being anything that we allow into our lives to damage or consume that relationship.

The question for us from this ODB entry today, is …  “are we doing all we can, as Jesus taught His disciples in upper room (see John 13-17 passages above), to prevent the foxes of selfishness and our human nature to get in the way of a deepening and fruitful relationship with the Lord?”

And certainly that is why I come here daily to take in God’s love letter to me (and all Christians); which, of course is Gods’ word, … so that I [and prayerfully WE] will be motivated to do all we can - today and tomorrow - to pray for and seek a deeper and more fruitful love relationship with our Lord … so that others will see Him in us … as the song link describes.

Oh, How I pray that for all who might read this with me today.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving me Your love and helping me to secure that closeness again here today.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to do all we can to prevent the foxes or our human nature from getting into the vineyard of Your love today.   Amen
