March 21, 2022 … Giving What We Can

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 80

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Paul Baloche, singing … Offering … poignantly singing of how we can bring an offering of our lives to serve our Lord and His kingdom.

Giving willingly and sacrificially to God ...

==============

Highlight Passage: … Exodus 4:21 [NLT] …

21 All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings to the Lord. They brought all the materials needed for the Tabernacle, for the performance of its rituals, and for the sacred garments.

… God’s people willingly responded to Moses’ call for items necessary to build the Tabernacle by giving generously from what they had in their homes.

Highlight Passage [Context] : … Exodus 35:4-21 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… God, thru Moses, exhorts His people to willingly give what was needed to construct the Tabernacle.

                                             .

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Proverbs 3:27 [NLT] …

27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them..

… God, thru Solomon, instructs His children (that’s us) to give to help others when we see the need.

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Luke 6:38 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK

38 Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

… Jesus shows His followers (and us too!) what giving to and for the kingdom of God, … showing that God blesses those who do give with that Spirit.

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Acts 20:35 [NLT] …

35 And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

… Paul quotes Jesus’ command that we are more blessed by God by giving than by receiving from His providence. See 1Corinthians 11:1 to see that Paul was doing all he could to be an example of Christlikeness.

Highlight Passage [Context]: … 1Corinthians 15:58 [NLT] …

58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

… Paul shows fellow Christians (that’s us too!) that anything we give to or do for the Lord is NEVER useless.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Tim Gustafson … AT THIS LINK wrote about a Korean Professor, who in 2011, was able to restore a Korean art form which had been banned by a Korean king in the 17th century and then discarded by the Korean people. The story illustrates how, when called to use our God-given talents and gifts for God’s glory we can do so much to honor our Lord.

And then, in the highlight passage, the ODB entry cites the work of God’s people when the Lord called His people, thru Moses, to give from their own homes and lives what was necessary to honor the Lord by the building of The Tabernacle. And this being a fore-shadowing of what the Scriptures (see above) call on God’s chosen people - and that is those of us who are disciples of Christ - to give of our lives, … our time, talents, and treasures, … so that in giving willingly and generously to God’s Kingdom … we are serving our Lord.

And as the Apostle Paul called us in 1Cor 15:58, … anything we do for our Lord, … when given or done from God’s call on our lives, … will NEVER be in vain and will ALWAYS be useful in serving the Lord for God’s kingdom.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving me time, talents, and treasures to serve You for Your kingdom.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to give back what You have given us to serve You today. Amen
