… God, thru the author of Hebrews, reminds His people just how powerful is God’s word for changing the hearts and lives of those who follow God’s message of truth.
My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Tom Felton … AT THIS LINK … relates a story about young girl, named Jennifer, in 2021 who found a bottle in a river bottom with a message in the bottle (see photo), … the message, written in 1926 from a young man on his 18th birthday, requesting the finder to return the bottle to him. After some search online, Jennifer returned the bottle and message to the now deceased young man’s relatives, giving them all, including Jennifer, a measure of joy from the message.
And the ODB author then compared that story with another found in the Old Testament which is shared above in the highlight passage, when a Priest in the Temple court of young King Josiah, the teenage King of Israel, found a copy of God’s word in the Temple - probably the OT scroll of Deuteronomy - and relayed God’s message of truth to the young King, who, with insight from God’s Spirit, immediately recognized that God’s people had been ignoring God’s truth. Josiah then took immediate redemptive action to bring God’s people into obedience and alignment with God’s message of truth.
Immediately, as I read the ODB entry for today, memorized messages from God’s word (see Reference Scriptures above), flooded into my consciousness; and God’s truth challenged me to see if I was living up to - or helping others live up to - God’s message when we have access to EVERYDAY in the bottled up truth of God’s word.
Personally, … I’m challenged to take God’s message of truth - His word - and do all I can to follow it and share God message of love and grace with others. How about you?
My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving me Your message of truth in Your word.
My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to do all we can to follow and share the bottled-up power and truth of Your word, Lord, with others today. … Amen
