Highlight Passage [Context]: … 2Peter 1:1-10 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… Peter writing to help oppressed Christians grow in their (and our) faith by surrendering to receive God’s enabling grace.

Reference Passage: …  Psalms 1:1-3 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK

… God thru a Psalmist sings of joy about the believer who finds and grows in God’s grace and faith thru His word.

Reference Passage: …  John 15:5-7 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK

... Jesus helps His disciples (and us) to realize that we must stay connected to Him in close fellowship to grow and be fruitful for His glory.

Reference Passage: … Galatians 5:22-23 [NLT] …

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! </i>

Paul shows fellow Christians (and us) the Christlike qualities which come from following Jesus and surrendering to His Spirit.

Reference Passage: … Philippians 1:6 [NLT] …

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Paul also shows fellow Christians (and us) that God’s Spirit will work thru our lives to reshape us into the images of our Savior when we’re willing to surrender and follow His Spirit.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Sheridan Voysey … AT THIS LINK  tells of a strange sea creature, the sea squirt, which is very active early in its life span; but somehow, as it develops, it consumes most of its brain to become inactive and attached to a rock (see photo) consuming life-sustaining nutrients from the flowing ocean just to stay alive.

The sea squirt is a curious life picture of what we should avoid in our Christian life.  God clearly in His word (see Scriptures above) calls His chosen ones, i.e., us born-again believers, to become more and more like Christ in fruitfulness and to grow in our faith by God’s enabling grace, … and  … NOT to be consumed by the selfishness of our sin nature.

Let’s do a self inventory of the fruitful qualities of Christ we are to become (see Galatians 5:22-23 and 2Peter 1:5-7) with the transforming work of the Holy Spirit (see Philippians 1:6) and, let’s ask ourselves if are are becoming more like Christ or dying to our selfishness.  Personally, i’ve got some growing to do; how about you?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving me Your Spirt to help me grow in fruitfulness as I surrender and follow You.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  as we surrender to Your Spirit, Lord, helping us to become more fruitful as we grow in Christlikeness.   … Amen
