My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Kirsten Holmberg … AT THIS LINK … tells about Trevor, who was blind, and Melanie, who had spina bifida and couldn’t walk, coming together to use what they could do TOGETHER to explore the wilds of Colorado (see photo). They called themselves the “dream team,” because working together, Trevor to walk and carry Melanie, who could see, they could explore God’s world TOGETHER and bring joy to each other.
Individually, as God’s creation, each of us has been given unique talents and gifts; but none of us has all of what we need to serve the Lord completely and powerfully. That’s why He has created His Church to function as His Body; and like the human body, we can - and should - work with all of our individual gifting to come together to work as the parts of a human body work to serve our bodily good.
You, my friend, have gifts and talents I do not have. But when we come TOGETHER … in the body of Christ, … which is described in the Scriptures above, … we become Christ’s body, which our Lord, as our Head, uses for God’s glory, … all working together as Casting Crowns sings in the linked song.
Common, my fellow member of Christ’s body, … let’s work TOGETHER today with other Christians to serve God’s body more effectively.
My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … help me to use what You’ve given me, Lord, to work together with fellow Christians to serve You today.
