… So that we will more easily maintain the mind of Christ, Paul wanted fellow Christians to ALWAYS remember whom we follow and what He did for us on the cross.
My Devotional Journal: Today's ODB author, Bill Crowder, cites a theologian’s warning that we Christians must do all we can to remember and relive the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross. … The ODB author wrote: In his book Restless Faith, theologian Richard Mouw talks about the importance of remembering the lessons of the past. He quotes sociologist Robert Bellah, who said that “healthy nations must be ‘communities of memory.’ ” Bellah extended that principle to other societal bonds such as families. Remembering is an important part of living in community.
And we of the community of Christians must use what God has given us to remember and relive what Christ did of us on the cross. No, we don’t need to die on a cross to show our love and live for our Lord. He did that once and forever. But just as God gave the Passover feast to to His Chosen people to mark the faith of those who remember what the Lord did to save His people from Egyptian chains, Jesus and others in the New Covenant have given us His supper (our Communion) to remember what Christ did for us on the cross. And in remembering it at His table we commit to being what the Apostle Paul wrote about [see reference passages above] … becoming living sacrifices of obedience to follow our Lord in this life.
In this way, as Jesus declared (see John 14:21) we show our love for Him. And I pray all reading here can, as the Sidewalk Prophets sing, “come to His table” and rededicate ourselves to be living sacrifices of obedience (see Romas 12:1-2), i.e., sacrifices of love for Him.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here are will join me to come to Christ’s Table whenever we can to remember Your sacrifice, Lord, … so that we can become Your love and grace for others. Amen
