April 10, 2022 … Riding A Donkey to Glory

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 100

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from the group Hillsong singing Hosanna … poignantly singing of how we, who know and worship King Jesus, need to stop and remember His coming to us with HOSANNAS AND PRAISES, even as He humbly rode into the City of David to be crucified for our sin during Passover.

Riding on a donkey ...

==============

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Matthew 21:4-5 [NLT] …

This took place to fulfill the prophecy that said, 5 “Tell the people of Jerusalem, [Is 62:11] Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey — riding on a donkey’s colt.’” [Zech 9:9]

… Mathew documents Jesus’ triumphant ride down the Mount of Olives into Jerusalem for Passover, riding on a donkey in fulfillment of ancient prophesy about the King of Kings, the long awaited Messiah, humbly riding a donkey into the City of David.

9 Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet He is humble, riding on a donkey — riding on a donkey’s colt.

… God’s prophesy, thru Zechariah, of the Messiah, the King of Kings, humbly coming into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey.

… Mark documents the triumphant entry of Jesus, on what we call “Palm Sunday,” to fulfill the prophesy of Zechariah 9:9 (see above) that The Messiah would enter into the gates of the Temple to the “hosannas” of God’s people.

… Luke also documents the story of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem five days before His humble death on a cross to fulfill all of what God’s word prophesied about the Messiah’s triumphant but humble entry procession down the Mount of Olives into the City of David.

Reference Passage: … John 12:12-19 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… The Apostle John’s version of Jesus humbly riding on a donkey into the gates of Jerusalem to the “hosannas” of the people, in fulfillment of ancient prophesy about the Messiah, … the King of kings.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Lisa M Samra … AT THIS LINK on this PALM SUNDAY celebration, writes of that very special occasion where Jesus entered the gates of Jerusalem, riding into the city to the praises and “hosannas” of the people in fulfillment of the Messianic prophesy of Zechariah 9:9, where the King of kings and Lord of Lords would humbly enter the gates of the City of David, riding on a donkey.

What a scene that must’ve been see photo, which is documented by all four writers of the Gospel accounts (see Scriptures above), showing just how important this event was in the annals of our Lord and Savior. So, I hope - and pray - that all reading here take in the significance of this day and send up praises and glorious thanks for Jesus humbly riding that day into the City of David to the hosannas and praises of the people, which in just a few days would become cries of “crucify Him!”

So, today, over two millennia later, we can celebrate with praises of joy what our Lord did by riding into Jerusalem that day, … events which would unfold on Calvary to save any of us who now know Jesus as our King Jesus, … our Messiah and Lord.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for being my King Jesus, …. worthy of all praise on this Palm Sunday.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to remember - with praises - our Lord and Savior, … our Messiah, … our King Jesus on this Palm Sunday day of Worship. Amen
