Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 97
Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Michael W Smith singing … I Will Carry You … poignantly singing of how we, as disciples of Christ, must trust Jesus’s promise to carry us when we need His strength; and then to do all we can to do that for others when we can.
==============
Highlight Passage [Context]: … Genesis 24:19-20 [NLT] …
19 When she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels, too, until they have had enough to drink.” 20 So she quickly emptied her jug into the watering trough and ran back to the well to draw water for all his camels..
… Rebekah illustrates God’s call for us to serve others first by sharing her water with Abraham’s servant.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Karen Huang … AT THIS LINK … shared a praise from the ODB author’s homeland in the Philippines, … “Kumain ka na ba?” (Have you eaten?), which showed the culture of hospitality in her native land, … a culture which certainly is compatible with that which was modeled by Jesus and shared by His disciples.
And then the ODB author shared the story of Rebekah in the highlight passage, where Rebekah unselfishly shared water with the servant of Abraham (see photo). And my thoughts immediately went to New Testament scriptures in the Book of John (see Reference passages above) where Jesus washed the feet of His Disciples in the Upper Room and then called on them to likewise share the Lord’s love with others.
I thought of the Apostle Paul’s strong call (see Pauline Scriptures above) for fellow Christians to emulate the humble model of Jesus to serve others before serving our own selfish desires.
I’m convicted; … how about you?
My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for being our model of humble and unselfish service to/for others.
My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to live by Your call, Lord, for us to serve others before we serve ourselves. Amen
